Cast ClockwiseHow to Cast clockwise in Scottish Country Dances. Dance clockwise around the Outside of a Square or other Circular set for one Place or the specified number if different. When starting from a stationary Position, first Pull back the right shoulder so as to Turn on the spot and then Dance away Outside The set, i.e., go the long way round; if more music than necessary is allowed (see Timing), start by first Dancing toward the centre of The set and replace the Turn on the spot by a spiral path. For example, here are some Scottish Country Dances in which the term, Cast clockwise, is used in either the Minicrib or the Maxicrib Dance instructions or both -
