Newbury Scottish Country Dancing ResourcesPortal Hall at Burghclere
Tina and Laurence welcome all Scottish country dancers to the 'Newbury Summer Club' which will be held at Portal Hall this year, the same hall used by the Hogmanay Hooters at the New Year's Eve parties. See 'Newbury Summer Club' page for further details. Portal Hall
Local Directions-
If you are going to Portal Hall from Newtown direction you will need to make a right turn in order to stay on Harts Lane about 100 metres before the hall. If you miss the first right turn to stay on Harts Lane, simply carry on and take the next right hand turn (at the next cross-road) down Church Lane where you will find the hall on the right hand side where the road meets Harts Lane.
You may find it more simple to use the A34 western Newbury bypass rather than coming through Newbury. Portal hall is just 1 mile from the Tot Hill junction. If you are coming southbound on the A34 be sure not to miss the turning off at Tot Hill (8.5 miles from J13 M4), the next turning to get you back is a 10 mile detour! Your SatNav should get you straight to Portal Hall, or at least close enough to find the war memorial and the church from where you can see the hall on the opposite corner. Access to the car park is normally from Church Lane or sometimes from Harts Lane (entrance next to The Sports Club).
The sprung wooden dance floor can take 8 sets, or 4 sets with tables all down one side. Highclere Village HallScottish Country Dancing Venue-

Parking is at the rear of the hall. To get driving directions go to http://maps.google.co.uk/ and type (or copy/paste) RG20 9QS post code into the search box near the top, then click 'search maps' button. Your SatNav should get you straight to Highclere Village Hall. The sprung Maple wood dance floor can take 7 sets, or 4 sets with tables down one side. Newtown Village Hall

Local Directions-
Parking is limited so please park very close to the bumpers of the other cars so that more may get parked. There is overflow parking on the green, or in emergency use the public car park on the other side of Jonathon Hill, but this car park is less secure and the track down from there may be dark, wet and pot-holed! Your SatNav will not get you closer than Jonathon Hill. The sprung wooden dance floor can take 3 sets (of friendly dancers)
