Scottish Country Dancing Dictionary


The Partner is the other Scottish Country Dancer in a Couple or one of the other Dancers in a threesome. In practice, one's Partner is the Dancer with whom one walks onto the floor at the beginning of a dance and, unless the dance is Progressive by changing Partners, the Dancer with whom one walks off the floor at the end of it.

It is sometimes convenient for the teacher to use a looser definition of Partner as the other of a pair of Dancers performing a Figure such as The targe.
