Position

The Position expression has three technical usages:

• for the relationship of the feet in the various steps (see Footwork);

• for Taking hands

• and for where a dancer is in The set.

In Scottish Country Dancing, for clarity, Place is chosen in preference to Position for this last usage wherever a Position is one of the dancers' Standing places though Position is retained where the conventional usage is strong as, for example, Corner position.
