AIRD OF COIGACH (J4x48) 4C set John Bayly Imperial Book 31- 8 All Men dance across passing partner RSh and cast down to the bottom of set (4th Man leading), cross the bottom of the set and up Men's side
9-16 All circle 8H round and back (retaining the circle formation to bar 40)
17-20 1s with dancers on their left (1M+2M and 1L+2L) nearer hands joined cross diagonally (Men's arch) and both pairs turn away from each other to face in
21-24 1s with dancers on their left (1M+3L and 1L+3M) nearer hands joined cross over (1M+3L make arch) both pairs turning away from each other to face in
25-32 1s continue this Fig 2 more times to end with top 2 dancers facing each other also bottom dancers facing each other for a Snowball Grand Chain
33-40 All dance Snowball Grand Chain for 4 couples:
End couples cross RH and change places LH on side with side persons
Original side persons cross RH while original end couples change places RH on sides and all change places LH on sides
41-48 All Ladies dance across passing opposite Man RSh and cast up to top, cross and down on the Ladies' side to end opposite partner. 2341

1-8 Mn cross, giving right shoulder to partners, cast and chase to own side, finishing 4M3M2M1M;
9-16 all 8 hands round to the left and back;
17-20 1L2L cross diagonally under arch made by 2M1M, all casting away to finish 4M3M1L2L on Mn's side 2M1M3L4L on Ls' side;
21-24 3M1L cross under arch made by 1M3L, all casting away to finish 4M1M3L2L on Mn's side 2M3M1L4L on Ls' side;
25-28 1L4L cross diagonally under arch made by 4M1M, all casting away to finish 1L4L3L2L on Mn's side 2M3M4M1M on Ls' side;
29-32 1L2M cross down under arch made by 2L1M, all casting away to finish 2L4L3L1L on Mn's side 1M3M4M2M on Ls' side;
33-40 snowball chain started at both ends, finishing 2M3M4M1M on Mn's side 1L4L3L2L on Ls' side;
41-48 Ls cross, giving right shoulder to opposite M, cast up and chase to own side, finishing 2s3s4s1s.

Aird Of Coigach - Scottish Country Dancing Instruction VideoDance Information
The Aird of Coigach is an area of Ross and Cromarty due north of Badnagyle, which is itself to the north of Ullapool.The area stretches northwestwards from Strathkanaird to the Rubha Coigeach headland taking in the high ridge of Ben More Coigach.
The name Aird is derived from the Gaelic for "The High Place" and is also commonly used to describe a promontory or headland.
The name Coigach is derived from the Gaelic for "five" or "fifths", and refers to the five townships of Achduart, Achnacarinan, Acheninver, Achnahaird and Achiltibuie.
