Dance Information

This reel, Bauldy Bain's Fiddle, was dedicated by John Bowie Dickson in 1978 to John Armstrong.

In the Lothian Collection the first verse of The Barn Dance - Poem by W. D. Cocker (1882-1970) is quoted.

Hey! for the music o' Baldy Bain's fiddle!
Redd up the barn, a' we'e gie ye a Reel.
In till it, noo! wit a diddle-dum-diddle,
Dod! that's the tune to pit springs in your heel.

Exactly who Bauldy Bain or Baldy Bain was, seems to be lost in time.
