1- 8 1L+2M turn RH to give LH to partner and Balance-in-Line, 1L followed by partner casts 1 place (Men's side) and crosses to end 2nd place own sides while 2M followed by partner casts up (Ladies' side) and crosses to 1st place own side
9-16 2s+1s+3s dance reels of 3 on sides (1s RSh to 3s to start)
17-24 1s repeat bars 1- 8 with 3s
25-32 1L dances behind 3L, in front of 2L and casts to 2nd place while 1M dances in front of 3M, behind 2M and dances down to 2nd place, 2s+1s+3s set

Reel 8 x 32 bars 3 Couple Repeat 4 Couple Set Longwise Set

  1-2   1L2M turn ¾ by the right, finishing by taking left hands with partner;

  3-4   1M1L2M2L balance-in-line, finishing by releasing hands;

  5-8   followed by partner, 1L cast, 2M cast up, finishing 2s1s on own sides, 1L facing out and down;

  9-16 2s1s3s parallel reels of 3 on the sides, 1s giving right shoulder to 3s to start, finishing facing in;

17-24 1s repeat bars 1-8 with 3s, finishing with 1L facing out;

25-30 giving left shoulder to 3s to start, 1s dance ¾ of parallel figures of 8 on the sides, finishing in 2nd place, facing in;

30-32 2s1s3s take hands on the sides and set.

Dance Notes

  4-5   Delaying releasing left hands with partner aids this transition.

16-16 1L pull left shoulder back to finish facing in.

27-28 3s step down.

Dance Information

The deviser Mary "May" Lyons Whyte Macfarlane (nee McLaren) 1927-2025 formed the Tayside Scottish Country Dancing Group in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

She taught her dancers for over 24 years.

Bea's Delight was written for one of her dancers.
