Dance Information

The origin of the title has not been established, and no contemporary source has been identified that links the dance with any particular person, place or event. The Royal Scottish Country Dance Society attributes the dance to Caledonian Country Dances, published about 1754.

It is perhaps noteworthy, that the publication date is eight years after the Battle of Culloden in 1746, but no firm evidence has been found that the title of this dance refers to the battle.
