9-16 2s+1s+3s set, 1s petronella turn to right, 2s+1s+3s set facing across and 1s set and turn 2H to 2nd place own sides
17-24 2s+1s+3s circle 6H round and back

This strathspey, The Edinburgh Volunteers, was from a 1796 printed pamphlet "Cooke's Selection of the Present Favourite Country Dances for the Year 1796", published in Dublin by "B. Cooke at his piano forte and music warehouse (No. 4) Sackville St.", price 1/1.

The pamphlet's instructions for the dance set out under the music were:

1st. La. turn 2d Gent. 1st. Gent do the same. fall in top & bottom & at the sides
6 hands round back again set & turn your Part.

This pamphlet also contained a tune and dance for "Go to the D---l and Shake Yourself"!
