Scottish Country Dance Instruction

Elizabeth Lye's Strathspey (S4x32) 4C set Lewis N Derrick 2020

1-8 All four couples dance eight hands round and back
9-10 With hands joined on sidelines, all set
11-12 The 1st couple cast off one place while the 2nd couple dance up to top place and the 3rd couple dance down to bottom place while the 4th couple cast up one place
13-16 The 1st and 4th couples dance four hands once round to the left ending facing in on the diagonal
17-24 Releasing hands, the 1st and 4th couples set and rotate ending with the 4th couple in second place facing the women's side and the 1st couple in third place facing the men's side
25-32 Giving left hands on the sidelines to begin, all four couples dance a grand chain ending with polite right-hand turns into own sidelines where appropriate

Repeat three times from new positions each time

The 1st and 4th couples give left hands to the people standing on their left, 2nd couple face down, 3rd couple face up.
