Dance Information

Eric's Reel was devised by Ian Brockbank from RSCDS Edinburgh, published in a collection of Scottish Country Dances to celebrate the 90th Anniversary of the Edinburgh Branch of the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society in 2014 and the original tune, also "Eric's Reel", was composed by Seonaid Lynn.

The Eric in question is Eric Liddell, gold and bronze medal winner in the 1924 Olympics, who demonstrated true Olympic and Christian values in his everyday life, the runner made famous by the film "Chariots of Fire".

The dance and tune were written for a beginner's class which met in the Eric Liddell Centre in Morningside, Edinburgh which Ian taught and Seanaid played for.
