Strathspey 8 x 32 bars 2 Couple Repeat 4 Couple Set Longwise Set

  1-4   SET AND TURN: 1st couple set advancing to end back-to-back, then turn 2nd couple with nearer hands halfway round (1st man right hand with 2nd woman; 1st woman left hand with 2nd man): couple have changed places;

  5-8   SET AND TURN: 1st couple set advancing to end back-to-back, then turn 2nd couple with nearer hands halfway round (1st man right hand with 2nd man, 1st woman left hand with 2nd woman): couples have changed places again ending in original places;

  9-16 SET AND PETRONELLA: 1st and 2nd couples set and petronella into the middle, set and petronella onto the opposite side of the set;

17-24 SET AND LA BARATTE: 1st and 2nd couple set and dance La Baratte;

25-32 1ST COUPLE SOLO: 1st couple cast off one place, dance a half figure of 8 around 2nd couple (2nd couple step up on bars 29-30), and cross over passing right hands to own side in 2nd place.

Repeat having passed a couple.

Dance Notes

As with all dances having the format, 2-Couple Repeat in a 4-Couple Set, if dancer numbers so dictate it can be performed in a 3-Couple or 5-Couple Set and with the number of repeats adjusted appropriately.
