Scottish Country Dance Instruction

A HOLIDAY REEL (32 bar reel for 3 couples) Petra Van Zinnen, The Delft Book Of Scottish Country Dances

1-2 1st couple set advancing, join right hand,
3-4 1st couple set while changing places (1st lady passes in front of 1st man under his right arm facing down).
5-6 1st couple lead down the middle between 3rd couple.
7-8 1st couple set while turning outward from each other to finish 1st man facing 3rd lady, 1st lady facing 3rd man (2nd couple move up).
9-16 1st and 3rd couples dance right shoulder reel of four across the dance (finish 1st couple facing each other).
17-24 1st couple turn left hand ½ way round to own side, lead up to the top, cast off to 2nd place and set.
25-28 1st man dances a half figure of eight round 2nd man, while 1st lady dances a half figure of eight round 3rd lady.
29-32 2nd, 1st and 3rd couples turn each other right hand once round.

Repeat, having passed a couple.
