1- 8 1s+2s dance Espagnole, finish with 2s in 1st place facing out, 1s in 2nd place facing up
9-16 2s+1s+3s dance mirror reels of 3 on the sides (1s in/up to start), 1s finish facing 1st corners
17-24 1s set to 1st corners, dance RSh round each other to face 2nd corners; 1s set to 2nd corners, dance RSh round each other to 2nd place own sides. 213
25-32 1s and 3s dance the 'The Roulette':
 25-26 1s and 3s Petronella turn into the centre, Men facing up, Ladies facing down
 27-28 1s ½ turn 2H, finish nearer hands joined facing Ladies' side while 3s turn similarly to end facing Men's side. 1M 1L 3M 3L
 29-32 1L+3M join RH and all dance clockwise in a line (1 bar), drop partner's hand, 1L and 3M continue turn RH (3 bars) while 1M and 3L dance clockwise. 231

If danced in 4 couples set (4x32), original 1s step down to 4th place on bars 1-2 of next turn.

Strathspey 3 x 32 bars 3 Couple Repeat 3 Couple Set Longwise Set

  1-8   1s2s espagnole, 2s finishing in 1st place facing out, 1s on own sides in 2nd position, facing up, nearer hands joined;

  9-16 1s dance up into mirror reels of 3 on the sides with 2s3s, finishing facing first corners;

17-18 1s set to first corners;

19-20 1s dance clockwise back-to-back around each other to finish facing second corners;

21-24 1s repeat bars 17-20 with second corners, finishing in 2nd place on own sides;

25-32 1s3s dance the roulette:

25-26 1s 3s petronella turn to the centre line, Mn below partners;

27-28 1s 3s turn halfway with both hands, finishing on the centre line, partners with nearer hands joined, 1L3M with right hands;

29-30 1s3s (couples dancing as one person) turn by the right halfway, finishing 3L3M1L1M on the centre line, partners releasing hold;

29-32 3L dance out to 2nd place WHILE 1M dance out to 3rd place, WHILE 3M1L turn ¾ by the right and dance out, 3M to 2nd place, 1L to 3rd place, finishing 2s3s1s on own sides.

Dance Notes

  8-8   After releasing left hands with partner, 1M must pull left shoulder back to face up.

29-32 As expressed above, 3L 1M must move quickly for 2 bars and then sedately whereas 3M 1L do the opposite; to achieve a more even tempo, partners may release hands during bar 30 rather than at the end.
