THE MARCHMONT EIGHTSOME (R96) Sq.Set John Bowie Dickson Dunedin Dances Book 3

1- 8 All circle 8H round and back
9-16 Ladies advance and retire twice while Men dance Figs of 8 round partner+ corner (Men dance behind partners to start and finish BtoB in middle facing partners)
17-28 All dance double reels of 4 across dance giving LH in the middle (Men end in middle)
29-32 All set to partners and ¾ turn RH
33-40 All dance Grand Chain ½ way and turn (spin) partners to face in
41-48 1s+3s set advancing, ½ turn opposite person 2H to face out and dance out to sides, cross and dance to meet partner
49-56 2s+4s repeat
57-64 All turn partners (spin) and dance Grand Chain ½ way to original places
65-80 Set to partners, ¾ turn RH and dance double reels of 4 across dance all ending in original places
81-88 Men advance and retire twice while Ladies dance Figs of 8 round partner+corner (Ladies behind partners to start)
89-96 All circle 8H round and back

Devised for Dunedin Dancers, who for over ten years met weekly in the Church of the German-speaking congregation in Marchmont, Edinburgh.

Marchmont is a mainly residential area of Edinburgh, Scotland lying roughly a mile to the south of the Old Town.
