THE PUMP ROOM (R8x32) 3C (4C set) Anne Walker RSCDS Cheltenham 50th Anniversary

1- 8 1L+3M set advancing, join LH in middle and RH with partner, all set in diagonal line. ½ diagonal reel of 4, 1L and 3M passing partner RSh to start. 1L and 3M pass LSh to face 2s (1L+2L, 3M+2M)
9-12 1L+3M dance ½ reel of 4 across with 2s, pass LSh to face own partner.
13-16 1L+3M dance ½ diagonal reel of 4 passing partner RSh to start. 1M and 3L end in original places, while 1L and 3M dance across to opposite sides (each other's places)
17-24 Men at top and Ladies at bottom dance RH across. 2s+1L+3M dance ½ diagonal R&L to end 123
25-32 1s nearer hands joined dance down cast up round 3s to 2nd place (2s step up 3-4), dance up to top and cast to 2nd place own sides

  1-2   1L3M set advancing to take left hands and right hands with partners;

  3-4   1M1L3M3L balance-in-line on first corners' diagonal, finishing facing partners;

  5-8   1M1L3M3L half diagonal reel of 4, 1L3M passing left shoulder to finish 1L facing 2L, 3M facing 2M;

  9-12 2M3M1L2L half reel of 4 across the set, 1L3M passing left shoulder to finish facing partners;

13-16 3L3M1L1M half diagonal reel of 4, 1M 3L finishing in original places, 3M in 1L's place, 1L in 3M's, 2s on opposite sides;

17-20 Mn at top, Ls at bottom, right hands across, finishing as at bar 17, 2L facing diagonally up, 2M down;

21-24 3M2s1L half diagonal rights and lefts, all finishing in original places;

25-28 taking nearer hands, 1s lead down below 3s and cast up to 2nd place;

29-32 taking nearer hands, 1s lead up between 2s and cast to 2nd place.

Dance Notes

  1-24 1L3M are the dancing couple.

27-28 2s step up.

30-32 On the 2nd, 4th and 6th repeats, 3s step up WHILE 1s cast to 4th place of the full set so that 3M is ready for bar 1 of the next repeat.

Dance Information

The dance was devised to celebrate the 50th anniversary, in 2008, of the founding of the Cheltenham Branch of the RSCDS and is on the programme for the 60th anniversary in 2018. It is named after the Pittville Pump Room where the Branch's Annual Ball is held.
