Scottish Country Dance Instruction

THE RETIRING (J4x32) 4C set Ian Sandeman Peterborough 2000 Collection

1- 8 1s+2s+3s dance reflection reels of 3 on the side (1s in and down, 2s out and up, 3s in and up to start). 2s finish in place, 1s+3s finish nearer hands joined with partner facing down and up in the middle of the set
9-12 1s+3s set and retire (pas-de-basque) to side and join hands with 2s
13-16 1s+2s+3s nearer hands joined advance and retire (Advance to form a circle, hands joined briefly and raised, retire to place) to finish 1s facing down, 2s facing up
17-24 1s+2s dance L&R (1s and 2s change places LH on sides to start)
25-32 1s cast to bottom and turn twice with hands crossed (or elbow grip) into 4th place. 2s+3s+4s step up on bars 25-26
