Dance Information

Shawnigan Lake is a village situated on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada.

The name "Shawnigan" is derived from the Hul'qumi'num term Showe'luqun, which is associated with both the lake and the village. Geographically, it falls under Electoral Area B within the Cowichan Valley Regional District. As of the 2016 census, the permanent population of Shawnigan Lake stands at 8,558.

The village serves as a popular recreational destination, with its population experiencing a seasonal increase during the summer months. This rise is attributed to the lake and village being sought-after summer vacation spots for Vancouver Island residents. The area's appeal for summer activities contributes to a temporary doubling of its population as people from the region seek the recreational offerings of Shawnigan Lake.
