Dance Notes
Like the 4-couple original, this dance is intended to introduce the Beginner to pas-de-basque for the first time. It also includes the other three steps, slip step, step up (or down) and skip change which cover the essential footwork for the quick tempo dances. Once a Beginner has mastered all the steps involved in this dance, over 70% of the Scottish Country dancing répertoire (almost every hornpipe, jig and reel) is at his/her feet. This version is less demanding than the 4-couple version. If class numbers require both to be danced, put the more experienced in the 4-couple set(s).
5-8 Easier than the 4-couple original because 1s cast only two places in this version.
13-16 A slow turn to help recovery if the timing has slipped.
17-24 Easier than the 4-couple original because all are in the same right hands across and back.
