Scottish Country Dance Instruction

TUNGSTEN TURKEY (R8x32) 3C (4C set) Sue McKinnell

1- 8 1L+2L ½ turn LH while partners ½ turn RH to end in double triangle position, 2s+1s+3s set, 1s dance out of sides, cast below 3s and cross up to double triangle position facing opposite side
9-16 2s+1s+3s set, 1s dance out of sides, cast to right, turn RH to double triangle position up/down and set (1L with 2s and 1M with 3s)
17-24 1s turn right about to face other couple, set, 1s dance out of ends and cast to right to 2nd place on opposite sides
25-32 2s+1s+3s dance reels of 3 on sides (1s giving LSh to 1st corners to start), 1s cross RH to own side

Tungsten Turkey 8x32 Reel for 3C by Sue McKinnell

1-4 1W and 2W turn ½ LH WHILE 1M and 2M turn ½ RH to end in double triangles position. 2C, 1C, and 3C take hands and set.
5-8 1C dance out the sides of the dance and cast below 3C, then cross up into double triangles position facing opposite sides.
9-16 2C, 1C, and 3C take hands and set; 1C dance out the sides of the dance and cast right and into the ends of the dance, 1W between 2C and 1M between 3C, then turn right about to end back-to-back 1W facing up and 1M facing down in double triangles position up and down the dance. 2C, 1C, and 3C take hands and set.
17-20 2C, 1C, and 3C dance 4 more bars of double triangles: 1C turning right about each other to end back-to-back in double triangles position up and down the set, 1W facing down and 1M facing up; 2C, 1C, and 3C take hands and set.
21-24 1C dance out the ends of the set and cast right to end in 2nd places on opposite sides.
25-32 1C dance six bar reels of three with corners, beginning by giving LS to 1st corners; on the last two bars, 1C cross RH to own sides in 2nd place.

Repeat.

This reel, Tungsten Turkey, was inspired by the name Oberdan Otto uses when he refers to a well-known dance he does not care for.
