1- 8 1s+2s+3s set, 2s set while 1M and 3L ¾ turn RH to end in 3rd/1st place own side while 1L casts to 3rd place and 3M casts to 1st place, all chase clockwise to end with Ladies in line across at top facing Men who face up
9-16 1s+2s+3s set to partners, 2s set while 1M and 3L ¾ turn LH to 3rd/1st place own side while 1L casts to 1st place on Men's side and 3M to 3rd place on Ladies' side, 1s+2s+3s chase anticlockwise to end in original places
17-24 1s set and cross RH down to 2nd place, cast to top and cross down to 2nd place own side while 2s cross RH, cast to top, cross RH down to 2nd place and cast to top
25-32 2s+1s+3s dance Grand Chain

The title of this jig, Vanessa, is the Hittite name for Avanos, a town in Cappadocia in central Turkey.

Vanessa or Avanos is on the banks of the Red River, the longest river of Turkey and is famed for its high quality pottery and carpets.
