Double Right Hands Across
In Double right hands across Couples Face clockwise and Dance Right hands Across as, for example, in bars 49-52 and 57-60 of Schiehallion. The formal RSCDS style of this Figure requires the Couples' Nearer hands to be joined; since the outer dancers have to Travel much further than in ordinary Right hands Across, this Figure takes the dancers only half way round the circle in 4 bars.
Note that in the informal style, for example in bars 9-12 of the Scottish Country Dance The Eightsome Reel, the Man puts his right arm behind his Partner with his right hand on her right waist.
