Gypsy Turn
Exceptionally in Scottish Country Dancing, Gypsy Turn is a rare form of Turn for two Dancers in which hands are not given; instead, the Dancers Travel individually around each other. They do not Take hands and so the Direction of rotation must be specified by a term such as Give right shoulder; since there is no physical contact, Eye contact is especially important.Here are examples of those Scottish Country Dances for which we have instructions on this site and in which the term, Gypsy turn, either appears explicitly or is implied; note that for a common term these will be a small selection; for a rare term, these may be all that exist:
