Position
The Position expression has three technical usages:- for the relationship of the feet in the various steps (see Foot positions);
- for Taking hands
- and for where a dancer is in The set.
In this Scottish Country Dancing Dictionary, for clarity, Place is chosen in preference to Position for this last usage wherever a Position is one of the Dancers' Standing places though Position is retained where the conventional usage is strong as, for example, Corner position.
