Scottish Country Dance Instruction

TWENTY CANDLES FOR IBERIA R96 (4c sq set) Betty MacKenzie

Bars 1-4. 1's and 3's RHA
Bars 5-8. 1L and 3M LHA with 4's to finish 1L with 3M behind facing up in centre of dance
while
3L and 1M LHA with 2's to finish 3L with 1M behind facing down in centre of dance
Bars 9-16. 1L followed by 3M dance out first lady's position and cast anti clockwise behind 4's to FINISH AT END OF LINE 1L facing 2M and 3M facing 4L
while
3L followed by 1M dance out third lady's position and cast anti clockwise behind 2's to FINISH AT END OF LINE 3L facing 4M and 1M facing 2L
NOTE 1L and 3L take two short steps to dance up/down through original place and 4 steps to cast behind respective side couples and two steps to cross over while 1M and 3M take four short steps to dance up/down through 1st and 3rd L original place and 4 steps to cast behind respective couples
On bar 16 -2L and 2M turn back to back to face 1's and 4L and 4M turn back to back to face 3's
Finishing in a Longwise set up/down the dance in the order -
ladies' side 1M 2L 2M 1L
men's side 3L 4M 4L 3M
Longwise set (Up/Down dance)
Bars 17-24. LSh Reel of 4
Bars 25-32. All advance and retire ½ R&L (top 2 and bottom 2 couples)
Bars 33-40. All Dozy Do 1's and 3's set pulling RSh back and dance clockwise back to original places in square set
while
2L 4M and 4L 2M half turn right hand, twirl and dance diagonally back to original places in square set
NOTE 2's and 4's movement is similar to the first 4 bars of Culla Bay

Bars 41-80. 2's and 4's repeat bars 1-40
Bars 81-96. Schiehallion reels
(At end all finish facing partner with right hand in air and left hand across body and shout Ole)
