Roxy's Moxie - Scottish Country Dancing Instruction VideoDance Information
The deviser so named this dance for their 2 year old granddaughter, Roxy who IS full of moxie!Moxie is an informal English noun meaning courage, boldness, determination, or spirited self-confidence, particularly in situations requiring initiative or resilience.
If someone says, 'She has moxie', they mean she shows assertiveness, nerve, and a readiness to act, often in the face of difficulty or opposition. It carries a positive connotation and suggests energy and personality, not merely stubbornness.
The term originated in the United States in the late 19th century. It derives from a soft drink called Moxie, first marketed in 1876 by Dr Augustin Thompson in Massachusetts as a 'nerve food' tonic. The drink's branding associated it with vitality and vigour, and the name evolved into slang meaning courage and drive.
Example usages: 'It took real moxie to launch a new business in that market', 'He may lack experience, but he has plenty of moxie'.
