This shows first position as used in Scottish Country Dancing (with the feet splayed at 90°). Note that heels are on the floor, as when stationary; heels would be off the floor when this position occurs within a step.

Filmed under the supervision of and with commentary by Helen Russell, RSCDS examiner and editor of the two-volume St. Andrew's Collection of Step Dances.
The position is demonstrated by the Scottish step dance teacher, Sergey Alferov (fellow UKA), of the Shady Glen Dance School, Moscow, Russia.
