Scottish Country Dance Instruction

An Abundance Of Oranges 32 Bar Strathspey For 3 Couples In A 3 Couple Set Trudy Roughgarden.

1- 8: 1st and 2nd couples set
 1st and 2nd couples cross by the right hand
 1st and 2nd couples dance right shoulder once round each other (4 bars)
9-12: 1st man with 2nd man, 1st woman with 2nd woman, turn by the left hand once round.
13-16: 2nd couple give right shoulders to 3rd couple for ½ parallel reel on the sides. 2M and 3M end facing out
17-24: 2nd couple dance Ladies Chain with the 3rd couple (who are at the top of the set).
25-28: 3rd man followed by 3rd woman, dance below 2nd couple to 2nd place opposite sides (2's up on bars 3 and 4 of phrase).
29-32: All turn by the left hand 1½ to own sides (end in order 231, ready to begin).

This dance was devised on a stormy day when masses of Oranges were being blown off the trees in my back yard.
