An Autumn Posy - Scottish Country Dancing Instruction VideoDance Information
This strathspey, An Autumn Posy, was devised by Romaine Butterfield in 1989 to honour Miss Elizabeth (Betty) Pitt, a dedicated longtime member of the Island Bay Scottish Country Dance Club, which later became known as Capital City.In 1987, Betty Pitt (1911-2005) was awarded honorary life membership in the Newtown Residents' Association for her significant contributions to the community. As a Plunket nurse for many years, she transformed an empty lot across from Wellington Public Hospital into a beautiful terraced garden filled with flowers. Every week, she would arrange fresh flower displays at the entrance of the Newtown public library.
Note: In New Zealand, August 24th marks the beginning of spring.
