Big Tam

Scottish Country Dance Instruction

BIG TAM (R4x40) 4C set Muriel Boal

1-8 1s with 2s and 3s with 4s right hands across once round. 2s and 3s then dance left hands across once round while 1s and 4s chase clockwise half way.
9-16 2s and 3s keep left hands in a wheel and give right hand to corner (1s and 4s) and set. 2s and 3s turn the corners once round and give left hand in the centre for a left hand wheel once round while 1s and 4s chase clockwise half way. All back in original positions.
17-24 1s with 2s and 3s with 4s dance a double figure of eight. (To begin 1s cross down and 4s cross up while 2s and 3s dance up or down the set into the figure of eight - 2s and 3s do not cast).
25-32 1s face 2s and 3s face 4s ready for half reel of 4 (men give RS Ladies give LS to begin) bringing the 1s to 4th place then 2s, 3s and 4s continue with half a reel of 3at the top of the set (finishing 2, 3, 4 and 1).
33-40 Eight hands round and back.
