This dance is named after the Brudenell Evening Institute, Leeds, UK.

The deviser's husband taught Scottish Country Dancing at the Brudenell Evening Institute, and eventually became head of the Brudenell Evening Centre.

The deviser, Brenda Burnell, has done much to encourage children to take up Scottish country dancing.
