9-16 1s+3s dance modified Chain Progression:
9-10 1s+3s turn ¾ RH
11-14 1M+3L turn LH 1½ times while partners chase clockwise ½ way
15-16 3s+1s turn ¾ RH to end 3L behind 1L facing down in middle (Ladies' side) and 1M behind 3M facing up (Men's side)
17-24 Alternating Tandem reels of 3 across, (1L+3L RSh to 4M and 3M+1M RSh to 2L). Lead swaps bars 19-20. All end on own sides. 2314
25-28 1s+4s nearer hands joined set advancing, drop hands to face up. 1s cast to 4th place and face up while 4s nearer hands joined dance up 1 place turning outwards to face down
29-32 1s dance in/up and turn 4s on sides (Ladies RH, Men LH) 2341

Reel 4 x 32 bars 4 Couple Repeat 4 Couple Set Longwise Set
1-4 1s dance in and cast to 2nd place;
5-8 1s3s take hands on the sides and advance and retire;
9-14 1s3s dance ¾ of chain progression, finishing 3M3L1M1L on the centre line;
15-16 3s 1s turn ¾ by the right finishing side-by-side with partners in the centre, Mn facing up, Ls down;
17-20 giving right shoulder to 2L to start, 3M1M dance alternating tandem half reel of 3 across with 2s WHILE 1L3L, giving right shoulder to 4M to start, dance alternating tandem half reel of 3 across with 4s;
21-24 giving left shoulder to 2L to start, 1M3M dance tandem half reel of 3 across with 2s WHILE 1L3L, giving left shoulder to 4M to start, dance tandem half reel of 3 across with 4s, all finishing 2s3s1s4s in the side lines;
25-26 1s4s take hands on the sides, set advancing and release hands to finish facing up;
27-28 1s cast to 4th place WHILE 4s take nearer hands and lead up, finishing facing out in 3rd place;
29-32 4M1M turn by the left WHILE 4L1L turn by the right, finishing 2s3s4s1s.

3-4 2s step up.
9-16 This is the normal chain progression with slightly modified finishing positions.
17-24 These half reels combine into tandem reels with alternation at the first end only and a modified finish.

This reel, Butterfly, was devised by Gaye Collin for four friends (Kathleen, Glenna, Joan and Ruth) that were going through big changes in their lives. Butterfly was their name for this dance.
The recommended music is The Craven Twelvesome as on the CD, A Tribute to Derek Haynes.
