Cramond Bridge - Scottish Country Dancing Instruction VideoDance Information
Valerie Cramond was for many years the RSCDS teacher of the Amersham Scottish Country Dancing Group; she married Bill Farr, leader of MacBain's Band which played widely throughout southern England in the latter part of the 20th century.(Dance information by Reuben Freemantle)
Cramond Bridge is a large urban area to the west of the city of Edinburgh and is also the name given to a series of bridges carrying traffic on the Queensferry road (A90) over the River Almond to and from the Forth Road Bridge.
The most recent is Cramond Bridge (concrete and steel) built in 1964, which replaced Cramond New Bridge (8 equal arches) built around 1823 (possibly the last bridge designed by John Rennie, demolished in 1963), which in turn replaced the Old Brig (3 stone arches) which dates back, at least in part, to c. 1488 and still remains downstream of the latest Cramond Bridge.
