Dance Information

In March 2025, to mark her 68th birthday, the deviser received a gift from members of her family including her daughter Hayley, her son Bevan, her daughter-in-law Natalie, and her husband. The gift was a personalised vehicle registration plate for her blue Peugeot electric vehicle. The car had been purchased new, allowing her to select the colour before delivery.

Within the family it was customary to give cars names, and the new vehicle was given the name Bolt. The name referred partly to its rapid acceleration, which is a characteristic of electric vehicles, and partly to the surname of a New Zealand fast bowler in cricket named Bolt. The owner and her family did not consider themselves car enthusiasts, and apart from a small number of company vehicles used in the past, this was the first brand-new car they had owned.

The decision to purchase an electric vehicle had been made as part of an intention to reduce environmental impact. When the time came to replace their previous vehicle, they had already decided that the replacement would be electric. The arrival of the new car, together with the personalised registration plate, inspired the idea that such a distinctive vehicle should be associated with a dance in its honour.

Recommended tune: CD: Formation Foundations Tk 6 Dick Whittington By Jim Lindsay and his Band.
