Dance Information

Elizabeth II (Elizabeth Alexandra Mary; 21 April 1926 - 8 September 2022) served as Queen of the United Kingdom and other Commonwealth realms from 6 February 1952 until her passing in 2022.

As queen regnant, she held the throne in 32 sovereign states during her lifetime and retained the title of monarch in 15 realms at the time of her death. Her reign, spanning over 70 years, is the longest in British history and the second-longest verified reign of any monarch in the history of sovereign states.

Elizabeth, born in Mayfair, London, during King George V's reign, was the first child of the Duke and Duchess of York, later King George VI and Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother. Her father ascended to the throne in 1936 after King Edward VIII's abdication, making the ten-year-old Princess Elizabeth the heir presumptive.

Privately educated at home, she commenced public duties during World War II, serving in the Auxiliary Territorial Service. In November 1947, she married Philip Mountbatten, a former prince of Greece and Denmark, and their marriage endured for 73 years until his death in 2021. The couple had four children: Charles, Anne, Andrew, and Edward.

Elizabeth's state funeral was held at Westminster Abbey on 19 September, which marked the first time that a monarch's funeral service had been held at the Abbey since George II in 1760.
