THE FAIRBRIDGE REEL (R3x48) 3C set John Brenchley RSCDS Book 451- 8 2s petronella turn and set, all petronella turn and set
9-16 1s+3s dance RSh reel of 4 up/down ending with 1M+3L ½ turning RH to face opposite sides
17-24 2s+1M+3L set, dance RH across, 1M+3L ½ turn RH to face own sides while 2s set
25-32 2s+1M+3L dance RSh reel of 4 across, 1M+3L end in middle facing partners
33-40 1s and 3s set and ¾ turn RH to 1s facing up and 3s in 3rd place opposite sides, 1s lead up to top, cast on opposite sides and into middle 1M facing up and 1L facing down
41-48 1M+2s and 1L+3s circle 3H round to Left, 1M leads 2s down Ladies' side as 1L leads 3s up Men's side, all circle 6H round to left ½ way to own sides and set. 312

Reel 3 x 48 bars 3 Couple Repeat 3 Couple Set Longwise Set
1-4 2s quarter petronella to the centre line;
5-8 all quarter petronella, 2s finishing on opposite sides, 1s 3s on the centre line facing partners;
9-14 1s3s dance ¾ of a reel of four on the centre line;
15-16 1L 3M complete the reel, finishing 1L facing down, 3M up, WHILE 1M3L turn by the right ¼ to face opposite sides and retain hold;
17-18 1M3L set WHILE 2s set advancing;
19-22 1M2s3L right hands across, finishing 2s on opposite sides, 1M3L retaining hold;
23-24 2s set WHILE 1M3L turn by the right halfway to face own sides and release hold;
25-32 1M3L2s reel of four across, 1M 3L finishing back to back on the centre line facing partners;
33-34 1s 3s set;
35-36 2s step up WHILE 1s 3s turn by the right ¾, finishing 3s in places, 1s retaining hold and facing up between 2s (in 1st place), all on opposite sides;
37-40 1s lead up and cast, finishing back to back on the centre line, 1M facing up, 1L down;
41-43 2s1M 1L3s 3 hands round to the left, finishing with 1s dropping left hands;
44-46 2s1s3s 6 hands round to the left halfway;
47-48 3s1s2s set on the sides.

Dance Notes
35-36 There is a difference in detail over this movement between John Brenchley's original instructions and the slightly less intuitive version published by the RSCDS in Book 45: the deviser's instructions are as interpreted in the above MaxiCrib; RSCDS Book 45 requires 1s to move down while turning to finish in 2nd place.

This Scottish country dance was devised by John Brenchley of the RSCDS Western Australia Branch and was first danced at Fairbridge, near Pinjarra in south west Western Australia (due south of Perth) in 1989.The recommended tune is "The Lonach Gathering" by David Gordon.
