Scottish Country Dance Instruction

Fanwood Frolic 5x32 Reel for 5C by Sue McKinnell

1-4 1C and 3C set and cast off one place to face 1st corners as 2C and 4C step up.
5-8 1C and 3C dance a half diagonal reel of four with 1st corners, passing right shoulder to face 2nd corner positions.
9-12 1C and 3C dance a half diagonal reel of four with the people in 2nd corner positions, passing right shoulder to face partner's 1st corner positions.
13-16 1C and 3C dance a half diagonal reel of four with the people in partner's 1st corner positions, passing left shoulder to face out in 2nd place on own sides in double triangles position. Order is 5, 1, 4, 3, 2.
17-24 1C and 3C dance double triangles. 1C and 3C end facing out.
25-32 5C, 1C, and 4C dance a half reel of three on the sides, beginning by 1C casting down to start (reel is RS on the women's side and LS on the men's side) and ending with 1C facing up in 2nd position while 3C cast behind 2C and dance up the center to end facing up in 4th position. 1C dance up to the top and cast 2 places as 5C steps up while 3C dance up to just above 3rd position and cast 2 places as 2C steps up. Ending order is 4, 5, 1, 2, 3.

Repeat 5 times.

This reel, Fanwood Frolic, commemorates my trip to New York, when I took the train to New Jersey and danced with the SCD group in Fanwood.
