This dance was created during the Queen's Birthday Weekend School held in Ĺtorohanga.During the event, participants noticed that the evening dance programme had been pinned to the wall directly above a fire hose. The placement made it look as though the sign reading "Fire Hose Reel" was the final item on the programme.
This unexpected detail sparked the idea for a new dance. Drawing inspiration from the hose reel itself, the choreography was developed to include reels of three, casting movements, and circular formations to symbolise the reel. It was a light-hearted addition to the weekend, born out of a moment of shared humour.
