Scottish Country Dance Instruction

Gates Of India (J4x32) 4C (4C set) 32 bar Jig for 4 Couples in a 4 Couple Set, devised by Jean Attwood, published in Alexander Dances Book 8.

1- 8 Top two couples and bottom two couples dance half Rights and Lefts
 All cross right hand, end couples set while middle couples (1st and 4th couples) turn left hand ¾ on the sidelines into a line of four across
 1st man and 4th lady joining right hand
9-16 1st and 4th couples balance and turn left hand halfway
 Balance again and turn left hand ¾ to finish. 2143
17-24 Half reel of four on the sidelines
 At the ends of the reel, all turn right hand once round
 4th and 1st couples pass by right shoulder to finish. 3142
25-32 All set
 Men form arches and all cross by right shoulder to opposite sidelines
 All chase clockwise back to own sidelines. 2413
