Scottish Country Dance Instruction
Glenbarr A 32 bar Reel for a three couple set. Lily Davison 19891- 8 1st couple set and cast off one place, 2nd couple move up. 1st couple turn 1ΒΌ times with right hand to finish with the 1st man facing up to 2nd lady and 1st lady facing down to 3rd man.
9-16 1st, 2nd and 3rd couples dance reels of three across the dance, 1st lady giving right shoulder to 3rd man and 1st man giving right shoulder to 2nd lady to begin. 1st and 3rd couples finish in the centre facing each other with nearer hands joined.
17-24 1st and 3rd couples dance a half-rondel (see note).
25-32 1st, 2nd and 3rd couples circle around and back again.

Dance Notes
HALF-RONDELBars 1-4 1st couple dance under an arch made by 3rd couple; the men then cross their partners in front of them to dance to the opposite side; all cast and face inwards, taking nearer hands on the sides.
Bars 5-8 All set on the side, and then cross back to own side, giving right hands in passing.

The "Glenbarr" homestead was built on a 35-acre property near Strathalbyn in 1842 by William Rankine from Ayr, who named the building after his former home in Scotland.Recommended Music: "Far Frae Hame" (Traditional)
