The Globe Inn - Scottish Country Dancing Instruction VideoDance Information
This dance was probably named after The Globe Inn, the favourite haunt of Scotland's famous poet, Robert Burns. The Globe Inn, 56 High Street, Dumfries, DG1 2JA, (not the inn across the bridge on Market Square, going by the same name) is the traditional flagstone pub that Burns declared as "his favourite howff" or pub. First established in 1610 it is now a visitor attraction as well as a pub and restaurant.
Meeting in the Globe Inn at Dumfries, "The Burns Howff Club Of Dumfries" was formed in 1889 and joined the Robert Burns World Federation in 1899.
