Strathspey 8 x 32 bars 2 Couple Repeat 4 Couple Set Longwise Set

  1-8   TURN AND CHASE: 1st couple turn once round with right hands, then 1st woman casts off one place and dances across to 2nd man's place followed by her partner who ends in 2nd woman's place (2nd couple step up on bars 7-8);

  9-16 SET AND CIRCLE: 2nd and 1st couples joining nearer hands on the side, set and circle to the left for two steps, set and circle to the left for another two steps;

17-24 LADIES' CHAIN: 2nd and 1st couples dance Ladies' Chain across the dance;

25-32 CHASE: 1st man casts up round 2nd woman, crosses over and casts off round 2nd man followed by 1st woman for bars 25-28 after which she dances down the middle pulling left shoulder back as she dances into 2nd woman's place, then 1st couple set to each other.

Dance Notes

As with all dances having the format, 2-Couple Repeat in a 4-Couple Set, if dancer numbers so dictate it can be performed in a 3-Couple or 5-Couple Set and with the number of repeats adjusted appropriately.
