Scottish Country Dance Instruction

The Hallowed Moon 40 bar reel for 3 couples in a longwise set Shelagh Dempsey

1-4 1st couple set
3-4 1st couple cast off. 2nd couple step up
5-8 1st couple turn partner with right hand once and a quarter to end facing 2nd corners, 1st man between 2nd couple and 1st woman between 3rd couple
9-16 1st man with 2nd couple and 1st woman with 3rd couple dance reels of three across
17-24 1st couple turn 2nd corner right hand, partner left hand, 1st corner right hand, and partner left hand to face out in second place on own sides
25-32 1st woman cast up to the top while 1st man cast to the bottom, 1st couple change places left hand and cast left to second place on own side. Meanwhile 2nd and 3rd couples cross right hand, set turning to face on the sides, change places right hand on the sides, and set turning to face across
33-40 1st couple dance diagonal rights and lefts with corners

Dance Information

Returning home after a dance in the early hours of a frosty winter's morn, we were treated to the spectacle of a full moon surrounded by a huge halo of cloud reflecting the moonlight.
