Scottish Country Dance Instruction

HEATHERBRAE (R88) Sq.Set Moira Stacey

1- 8 1s+3s dance ½ R&L, turn corner RH and all set to partners
9-16 1s+3s repeat back to places
17-24 All dance interlocking reels of 4 (RSh to partner) and end facing corner person
25-32 All dance interlocking reels of 4 (LSh to corner) and end in original places
33-48 2s+4s repeat bars 1-16
49-56 All Ladies dance RH across once round and pass partner LSh and dance round to place
57-64 1s+3s dance ½ Ladies' Chain, 2s+4s dance ½ Ladies' Chain
65-72 All Men dance RH across, pick up new partner and RH wheel a further ½ way
73-80 Men face new partner set, turning to left Men dance LH across ½ way to face own partner, set and ¾ turn RH to place
81-88 All dance 8H round and back

Heatherbrae A reel in a square set by Moira Stacey

1-8 1 and 3 couples half rights and lefts-no polite turn, look to corner, turn right hands once round, all set to partners. Finish facing across.
9-16 1 and 3 couples repeat to place. All finish facing partner.
17-24 Reels of four around the set giving right shoulders to begin. After last right shoulder to partner look on to face corner.
25-32 Pass corner with left shoulder into reels of four.
33-48 2 and 4 couples similar to 1 and 3 couples (bars 1-16), half rights and lefts, turn corners, set to partners. Repeat .
49-56 All four ladies right hands across, pass partner by left shoulder to cast round him.
57-64 1 and 3 ladies half ladies' chain. 2 and 4 ladies half ladies' chain.
65-72 All four men right hands across, keeping hands joined in the centre, collect "new" partner and dance half way round in a wheel.
73-76 Face "new" partner and set, men pull left shoulder back on second pas de basque to dance left hands across half way round to face own partner.
77-80 Set and turn right hands ¾ to place.
81-88 Eight hands round and back.

Dance Information

This reel, Heatherbrae, was dedicated to both Doncaster and Retford Branches of the RSCDS on my retirement as teacher of both Branches with much love and happy memories, November, 2003.
