Scottish Country Dance Instruction

Jacksonville Reel (5x32 reel for a five couple set), Curt Beadell, 2010

1- 4 1s set and cast below 2s
5- 8 1s ½ Fig of 8 around 2s to finish b/w 2s facing opposite sides
9-24 Spurtle:
 9-12 1C and 2C ½ reel of 4 across set as 2C dances up to 1st place, 1C turn RH finishing with 1M facing 3L and 1L facing 3M
 13-16 Repeat with 3C, finishing b/w 4C as 3C dances up to 2nd place
 17-20 Repeat with 4C to finish with 4C in 3rd place And 1C at bottom (all now improper)
 21-24 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 1st couples set to partners and, giving right hands, cross to own sides
25-28 Top 2 couples and bottom 2 couples four hands across by right
29-32 Top two couples four hands across by left while 5s set and cast up to 4th 1s (in 4th place) step down on 31-32.
