Dance Information

The 2025 event is scheduled for 8 June, starting at 9:00 am. The race begins and ends at the New Leaf Gallery, located at 291 Walnut Road in Bickley. Participants can expect a challenging yet accessible course, designed to showcase the best trails in the area.

The exact route of the Kalamunda 25 is not disclosed prior to the event. This approach encourages riders to be familiar with the local trail network and to remain attentive to course markings on race day. The course includes timing checkpoints at approximately the 13-kilometre mark, allowing riders to monitor their progress.

The Kalamunda Trail Network features over 40 kilometres of marked singletrack, catering to various skill levels. The trails are graded according to the International Mountain Bike Association standards, ranging from easy to difficult. Facilities such as parking, toilets, and bike repair stations are available at key locations, including the Calamunda Camel Farm and Farrell Grove.

Safety is a priority for the event organisers. Riders are advised to wear appropriate protective gear, including helmets, gloves, and eye protection. It is also recommended to carry sufficient water and to be prepared for varying trail conditions.

The Kalamunda 25 offers a unique opportunity for mountain biking enthusiasts to experience the diverse terrain of the Perth Hills. With its combination of challenging trails and scenic landscapes, the event continues to attract riders seeking both competition and adventure.

The area was originally inhabited by the Noongar people. European settlement began in the 1880s, with the Stirk family establishing a property in 1881. Their residence, Stirk Cottage, now serves as a museum. The development of the Kalamunda Zig Zag railway in the 1890s facilitated further growth in the region.

Situated at an elevation of around 300 metres, Kalamunda experiences cooler temperatures compared to Perth. The region's deep clay soils support the cultivation of stone fruits, apples, pears, and roses. The town is adjacent to Kalamunda National Park and marks the northern end of the Bibbulmun Track, a long-distance walking trail.

Kalamunda offers various walking trails, including access to the Bibbulmun Track, and is near Lesmurdie Falls, a popular lookout point. The town is also home to the Kalamunda History Village, which features heritage buildings and exhibits related to the area's past.
