Dance Information

The Keeper of the Purse is a dance devised by May Macfarlane and published in the Tayside Collection, created in honour of Chris Smithers, who served as Treasurer of the Tayside Dancers.

Chris was an active dancer with Tayside, as well as with Fallingbrook and Scarborough. He danced alongside May Macfarlane and was also Convenor of Tayside. Chris and his wife, Cecelia, danced together at the Skydome.

In 2006, he received a Volunteer Award for his contributions. Chris Smithers passed away on 20th December 2011 at the age of 89.
