Dance Information
This Strathspey was first devised 27/4/2021, as a teaching dance for the second week of basic reels for our new dancers.Khandallah Town Hall is Johnsonville Club's new home venue, due to our previous venue being carpeted, and the Bowls Club being too small.
Recommended tune is "Dalkeith's Strathspey" or any other suitable traditional Strathspey, with strong 2 bar phrases. I used an old recording by Jimmy Shand.
The dance has parallel reels of 3 on the sides, and hopefully is a simple alternative to "The 92nd". Most other Strathspeys with straightforward reels on the side seem to have other formations unsuitable for beginners.

Johnsonville Scottish Country Dance Club meet at Khandallah Town Hall, 11 Ganges Road, Khandallah, Wellington, New Zealand (c. 2025).
The Khandallah Town Hall has served the local community for more than 100 years. It provides a venue where people can meet, take part in creative and recreational activities, host events, and engage in public discussion. The building is managed by the Khandallah Cornerstone Resource Centre Trust, a charitable organisation established in 1983 with the purpose of running a community centre for the benefit of Khandallah residents.
For around three decades, the Trust operated from a site at 2 Ganges Road. In August 2011, the Town Hall underwent major renovations and upgrades. Following this refurbishment, the Cornerstone Centre moved into the modernised premises, continuing its work under a partnership arrangement with Wellington City Council.
The organisation supports the community by providing space for local groups and events, organising programmes and activities, and helping residents build connections. It also plays a role in fostering networks, supporting neighbourhood resilience, and encouraging community preparedness for emergencies.
