LEFT IN ISOLATION JIG (J1x32) 1C+4 chairs Ted Smith Pandemic Set Of Dances
The single couple starts in 2nd place with no progression, chairs representing 1s+3s do not move

1-8 Man crosses up and Lady down to dance Fig of 8 across (1 M round 2s at top, 1L round 3s). 1s finish passing LSh to face 1st corner
9-16 'Hello-Goodbye' to end in centre, Man between 2s facing down and Lady between 3s facing up. 1s dance out to 2nd place opposite side and face out
17-24 Lady casts down and Man casts up to dance Fig of 8 on opposite sides
25-28 Lady casts down and Man casts up and chase ½ way round set to finish in 2nd place own side facing in
29-32 Dance round partner LSh (Gypsy turn) back to place

The single couple start in 2nd place and there is no progression; 1st and 3rd couples, who do not move, are represented by chairs or any other convenient objects.

  1-8   M cross up, L down into figures of 8 across, finishing by passing left shoulder to face first corner;

  9-14 hello-goodbye setting, finishing facing on the centreline, M above L;

15-16 petronella turn to 2nd place on opposite side, finishing facing out;

17-24 L cast, M cast up into figures of 8 on the sides, finishing as at bar 16;

25-28 L cast, M cast up into chase halfway around the set, finishing in 2nd place on own side facing in;

29-32 advance and gypsy turn by the left, finishing in original places.

Dance Notes

The dance can also be performed by a single dancer with a ghost as partner for the gypsy turn in bars 29-32. By making this a 1½ times turn (or, more sedately, simply crossing), the single dancer can perform a second repeat from the ghost partner's place.
