Scottish Country Dance Instruction

MAGIC CIRCLE (S4x48) 4C set Melvin Cannell St Ronan's SCD Club

1- 8 All set and 2s+3s dance ½ RH across, 3L and 2L pass partners RSh and chase clockwise (crossing set above the 4s) to opposite sides to face new partners
9-16 1s and 4s turn partner RH and cast into middle, 1s and 4s dance ½ Fig of 8 round end couples
17-24 All set and 1s+4s dance ½ RH across, 1L and 4L cross passing partners RSh and chase clockwise crossing below top couple to own sides having changed partners.
25-32 All circle 8H round for 6 steps and set in a square set (3M/2L at top facing down, 3L/2M at bottom facing up, 1L/4L in 2nd place and 4M/1M in 4th place)
33-36 Top and bottom couples advance and dance RH across 1¼ round
37-40 2M followed by 3M dance out Men's side (between other Men) and cast right to top of set while 2L followed by 3L dance out Ladies' side (between other Ladies) and cast right to bottom of set
41-48 All Men chase clockwise 3 steps (2M leading) while all 4 Ladies advance 2 small steps towards centre, pull back RSh. All join RH with partner and dance clockwise round into longwise set and all turn partners RH. 2341
