Scottish Country Dance Instruction

MAGIC CIRCLE (S4x48) 4C set Melvin Cannell St Ronan's SCD Club

1- 8 All set and 2s+3s dance ½ RH across, 2L and 3L cross passing partners RSh and chase clockwise crossing above the 4s to opposite sides to face new partners
9-16 1s and 4s turn RH and cast into middle, 1s dance ½ Fig of 8 round 2s while 4s dance ½ Fig of 8 round 3s
17-24 All set and 1s+4s dance ½ RH across, 1L and 4L cross passing partners RSh and chase clockwise crossing below top couple to own sides having changed partners.
25-32 All circle 8H round for 6 steps and set in a square (3M/2L at top facing down, 3L/2M at bottom facing up, 1L/4L on Ladies' side and 4M/1M on Men's side)
33-40 The top and bottom couples advance and dance RH across, 2M followed by 3M dance out Men's side (between Men) and cast to top of set while 2L followed by 3L dance out Ladies' side (between Ladies) and cast to bottom of set
41-48 All Men chase clockwise 3 steps (2M leading) while Ladies advance 2 small steps and turn right to face out, Men meet partners RH and dance into a longwise set in order 2341 (2s dancing up, 1s dancing down) and all turn RH
